The Canadian Apparel Federation (CAF) has partnered with inspection, testing and certification company SGS on a workshop series for apparel and footwear manufacturers and retailers in the country.

Over 100 Canadian companies joined the workshops this year, which aim to provide education on critical existing and upcoming regulations that impact Canadian companies who manufacture, test or trade products internationally.

With international trade regulations continuously evolving and expanding, companies must fully understand the regulations applicable to their product categories and be aware of associated regulatory changes in order to remain compliant from both operational and legal perspectives.

As a result, the CAF and SGS say they will continue to host these workshops at the beginning of each year, and will also offer an educational service throughout the remainder of 2018.

“With SGS’ global network of testing labs for consumer goods, we are in a unique position to educate Canadian suppliers on industry-specific regulations that can help them sustain their global operations and remain competitive on an international scale,” says Louann Spirito, business and technical head of Softlines at SGS North America.

The workshops were held in Toronto and Montreal earlier this year and the last of a series of three editions concluded in Vancouver yesterday (8 March).
