The agenda for this year’s IAF World Fashion Convention is starting to take shape, with executives from Li & Fung, Hugo Boss, and Kik set to address the theme ‘Let’s Grow Together for a More Prosperous and Sustainable Future.

The 35th event organised by the International Apparel Federation (IAF) will be co-hosted by the Pakistan Readymade Garments Manufacturers & Exporters Association (PRGMEA) and will take place at the Pearl Continental Hotel in Lahore on 12-13 November.

The two-day conference programme includes keynote speeches and panel sessions featuring speakers from all over the world.

Among those presenting are Wilson Zhu, COO of sourcing giant Li & Fung; Stefani Artmann, director of international sourcing at German retailer Kik; Joachim Hensch, managing director of Hugo Boss Textile Industries; and Roopa Nair, head of partnerships and communications of the International Labour Organization’s (ILO) flagship Better Work programme.  

The Convention will also feature speakers from the Pakistani apparel industry.

The Pakistani apparel industry is entering a new phase of growth following major improvements after years of serious safety issues. According to the re:source by just-style strategic sourcing tool, textiles and apparel, which benefit from plentiful raw materials, particularly cotton, and fabric inputs, account for most of Pakistan’s export earnings, 40% of the labour force, 46% of manufacturing, and 67% of exports, with the US the top customer in a diversified market.
