The top five companies accounted for 15% of patenting activity
Analysis of patenting activity by companies shows that NIKE filed the most social responsibility patents within the apparel industry in Q2 2024. The company filed 43 social responsibility-related patents in the quarter, compared with 76 in the previous quarter. It was followed by Decathlon with 8 social responsibility patent filings, Artemis (5 filings), and Bosideng International (4 filings) in Q2 2024.
Patenting activity was driven by China with a 25% share of total patent filings
The largest share of social responsibility related patent filings in the apparel industry in Q2 2024 was in China with 25%, followed by the US (24%) and Japan (11%). The share represented by China was 1% lower than the 26% share it accounted for in Q1 2024.
