Athleisure is having a moment in the fashion industry – and will be explored at the autumn edition of the Association of Suppliers to the British Clothing Industry (ASBCI) conference next month.
ASBCI says in the UK market alone over 2017, the sports-related clothing market rose 8% to GBP2.5bn (US$3.3bn), driven by the growth in the health and wellbeing industry.

Recently e-commerce giant Amazon announced its foray into the athleisure space with the launch of a brand called Aurique.
The conference ‘Athleisure – the new smart casual?’ is set to take place at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Nottingham on 14 November. It will address the current opportunities and future potential of athleisure and look at how the trend’s leading brands and retailers are developing both their product and their customer base.
Speakers will include Boss Menswear and Marks & Spencer, as well as Freudenberg.
Technology company Lectra is also set to speak at the event and will provide “practical advice” on designing and producing activewear garments using technical fabrics.
