Cotton On Group, one of Australia’s largest global apparel retailers, has launched new platform to share the work it has been doing on ethics and sustainability over the course of its 27-year history.

Called ‘The Good’, the platform is being shared in-store and online to help customers navigate the often complex topics related to ethical and sustainable retail operations.

The platform will continually evolve in-line with Cotton On’s activity in the ethical sourcing space, with a view to keeping customers well-informed and involved in the journey. Currently, it explores:

  • Made with Good: sharing how the group is collaborating with partners to make products more sustainably.
  • Doing Good: highlighting how the group empowers its network of suppliers, garment workers and farmers through policy and education.
  • Taking Good: steps on its journey to reduce its impact on the environment.
  • A good look at the supply chain: the work to create transparency in the group’s supply chain from start to finish.

“At the Cotton On Group we are committed to creating positive change,” says the company. “Operating with integrity and ‘doing the right thing’ has been the driving force behind how the group does business since day one. It remains at the core of our operations today as we endeavour to use the size and scale of the business to have a positive impact on people, communities and the planet.”

In 2016, the group started publicly disclosing its supplier base and actively pursuing a goal of end-to-end mapping of all suppliers, including raw materials, by the end of 2018. Its responsibility to how its products are made, the people who make them and the materials used extends across the 1,900 factories it uses and the 170,000 workers employed at them.

Earlier this year, Cotton On become one of the latest retailers to adopt a global initiative aimed at achieving a living wage.
