The digitalisation of manufacturing will be the key topic at next month’s Sourcing at Magic show, with a digital apparel micro-factory set to offer live demonstrations of apparel production.

Taking place from 11-14 February at the Las Vegas Convention Centre, this year’s event will allow visitors to experience the technologies that will move their businesses into the future.

The micro-factory can create apparel on demand and in extremely short periods of time, giving designers and producers powerful “concept-to-creation” capabilities. Five steps go from design to product – CAD/Design to printing to cutting to sewing – and the demonstration facility will manufacture T-shirts on-site. It will comprise machinery from EFI, Optitex, EFI Reggiani, Klieverik, Zund, Eton System, along with robots and sewing from Henderson.

Automated technology at the show will include pattern making software, Sew-bots, auto-drape machines and new digital printers for cotton.

Several specialists will also lead panels informing audiences on the benefits behind automated technology and how to digitalise sourcing. Discussing how to meet the new challenges of the smart factory will be Katherine Stein of Softlines SGS North America, and Joachim Hensch of Hugo Boss.

Seminars will also cover robots and customisation, with speakers from SEAMS, Herderson Sewing, Eton Systems and Zund America.
