German sewing and embroidery thread manufacturer Amann Group is teaming up with Standard Group of Bangladesh to supply local apparel and footwear firms with high quality sewing threads.
The two companies have set up a new joint venture called Amann Bangladesh Limited, with construction work on a new production site in Mawna, Gazipur due to begin in January 2011. The facility, which will have an annual capacity of 3000 tons, is expected to be fully operational by mid-2012.
The privately owned Standard Group is one of Bangladesh’s leading industrial conglomerates, with its garment manufacturing division employing more than 35,000 people and producing over 40m garments a year for major global brands.
