Online menswear retailer Bonobos, which was bought by US retail giant Walmart last year, has appointed Micky Onvural as its chief executive.
Previously chief marketing office for the company, Onvural takes up the role with immediate effect. He takes over from founder Andy Dunn, who announced the appointment on Linkedin.
Dunn says he will now be taking the opportunity to “dive in more singularly into my role as head of digital consumer brands at Walmart, which includes overseeing Bonobos.”
Before joining Bonobos two years ago, Onvural was vice president of consumer marketing for real estate firm Trulia for nearly three years, and was self employed as a brand and marketing strategist prior to this.
In his message, Dunn listed Onvural’s accomplishments and qualifications, and praised her “courage” for spearheading a new ad campaign for Bonobos called #EvolvetheDefinition, seeks to redefine what masculinity is for men.
“Instead of being disappointed in Micky for not delivering a more universally loved campaign, we are grateful to her for her leadership in standing firm on a powerful message. Most people would have been scared to light that kind of fire on the internet,” he wrote.
