Sri Lanka's Brandix Group has been named the country's top exporter for the fifth year in a row.

The coveted top award across all categories of exports was among five Presidential Export Awards won by the Group at a high-profile event yesterday (14 September) to recognise contributions by export companies to the national economy.

The Exporter of the Year award relates to the company's performance in 2016, and was presented at a ceremony presided over by President Maithripala Sirisena.

In addition, Brandix received the awards for Highest Employment Provider in the Export Industry; Highest Net Foreign Exchange Earner in the Export Industry; the sectoral award for Highest Foreign Exchange Earner in the Apparel Sector; and the award for Excellence in Sustainable Development, in a reaffirmation of the depth and scale of the Group's involvement in the export sector.

With this latest set of Presidential Export Awards, the Brandix Group took its tally of accolades from this annual event to 30.

"Our commitment to the ideal of being a provider of inspired solutions to global apparel brands drives everything we do," says Brandix CEO Ashroff Omar. "With our approach of consistently adding value to our offering, we are happy to help in keeping Sri Lanka's apparel industry competitive in the global arena."

The Brandix Group is Sri Lanka's largest apparel exporter, with 47,000 workers across 42 manufacturing locations in Sri Lanka, India and Bangladesh and customers including Victoria's Secret, Gap, Lands' End, Lane Bryant and Marks & Spencer.

The company specialises in casual bottoms, intimate and active wear, woven and knitted fabrics and a range of apparel industry accessories. It produces its own fabric, threads, buttons and hangers and operates fabric printing, washing, dyeing, wet processing, finishing and quality control services.

The group's commitment to eco-friendly manufacture and environmental best practice has seen seven of its factories awarded Eco Factory status by British retailer Marks & Spencer.
