CANADA: Scientists Spin Their Own Spider Silk
Scientists have spun their own spider silk in a laboratory breakthrough that is set to revolutionise textile applications ranging from lightweight body armour and ladder-proof tights to fine surgical thread and biodegradable fishing lines. The spider silk, the toughest fibre in the world, has been created by experts from Canadian biotechnology company Nexia Biotechnologies and the US Army Soldier Biological Chemical Command in Massachusetts.
