CHINA: Textile Firms Suffer Bad Start To 2002
Output at China's top textile enterprises slowed in the first four months of this year, with both exports and profits on the slide from the year-ago period, official figures released on Monday revealed. According to the State Economic and Trade Commission, the country's 45 key textile firms posted 23.9 billion yuan ($2.89 billion) in total industrial output in the January to April period - down 1.9 per cent on last year.
