Meanwhile, nearly 55% of raw materials used in the company’s vertically integrated fabric mill in Vietnam are certified by either GRS or the Recycled Claim Standard (RCS).

Crystal International’s new alliance with Textile Exchange will empower the company to further its adoption of eco-friendly alternatives, thereby minimising environmental impacts. It joins more than 800 other member organisations that share this vision.

The company recently launched CirClimate, an innovative collection which utilises biodegradable, climate-adaptive fabric derived from sustainable wood pulp and recycled waste. This aligns with Textile Exchange’s Preferred Fiber & Materials Matrix.

As part of its circularity vision, Crystal International has also been spearheading initiatives in waste management. Earlier this month, it implemented a Corporate Waste Management System Framework to streamline waste management across all its factories.

The intention is to tap the potential benefits of waste while adhering to evolving customer expectations regarding waste reduction and recycling.

Five of the company’s factories have piloted sharing textile waste data on the Reverse Resources platform to enhance traceability and transparency while promoting textile-to-textile recycling.

Crystal International corporate quality and sustainability vice president Catherine Chiu said: “Combining the available tools established by Textile Exchange with our own expertise, we aspire to connect with pioneers and innovators within the driven community to co-develop more nature-friendly fashion products through collective action.”

Crystal International intends to collaborate with stakeholders in seeking practical, sustainable textile solutions to create a circular value chain and develop more responsible materials.

Last month, the company collaborated with the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) to develop graphene electrothermal technology for thermal apparel.

Crystal International’s product portfolio spans six categories, including lifestyle wear, sportswear and outdoor apparel, denim, intimates, sweaters, and knitted fabrics.

It operates over 20 production facilities across five countries, namely Vietnam, China, Cambodia, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
