Delta Galil, the Israel-based manufacturer and marketer of branded and private label apparel, has named Steve Moore as its president of mass division.

Moore previously held positions at Gildan Activewear and HanesBrands. At Gildan he oversaw all branded and private label retail partnerships and omnichannel strategy development, while at HanesBrands he served in various sales and planning roles of increasing responsibility, working extensively with Walmart.

Isaac Dabah, CEO at Delta Galil, says Moore’s intimate understanding of branded and private apparel as well as his strong industry relationships will “prove invaluable as we continue to grow our mass merchandising segment both in the US and globally.”

Moore adds: “There is so much opportunity in private label within the mass merchandising segment, and I very much look forward to working with the strong team already in place as we execute the mass division’s growth strategy.”

Delta Galil develops innovative seamless apparel including bras, shapewear and socks; intimate apparel for women; extensive lines of underwear for men; as well as babywear, activewear, sleepwear, and leisurewear. Its customers include Wal-Mart, Marks & Spencer and Target as well as leading fashion brands such as Calvin Klein, Nike and Victoria’s Secret.

In recent years the company has made a number of acquisitions, including French undergarment maker Eminence Group and VF Corp’s Contemporary Brands business – including upscale denim brand 7 For All Mankind, and women’s sportswear brands Splendid and Ella Moss – in a deal worth US$120m.

Earlier this year it announced the acquisition of Hong Kong-based intimate apparel manufacturer The Bogart Group, a strategic supplier to brands including Victoria’s Secret, PVH, Jockey, Adore Me, Vanity Fair and Hanes.

In its most recent quarterly results the company’s profits slumped 59% to US$3m which it attributed to negative currency impact and the timing of holiday sales. Revenues, however, were 9% higher at US$365.4m.
