eBay chief sustainability officer Renee Morin said: “Our partnership with American Circular Textiles is a natural extension of our commitment to sustainable commerce and an important step toward accelerating the future of circular fashion.”

Founded in 1995, the e-commerce company connects buyers and sellers worldwide, enabling the reuse of products and supporting waste reduction.

According to eBay’s 2025 Recommerce Report, over half of surveyed consumers say purchasing second-hand goods enables them to “express their personal style”.

As part of its sustainability strategy, the company has undertaken several circular fashion initiatives, including the Circular Fashion Fund, aimed at supporting start-ups and innovators working on repair, resale and recycling solutions within the industry.

In 2025, eBay also became the official pre-loved partner of Condé Nast, giving users access to second-hand branded fashion across several Condé Nast titles such as Vogue, GQ, Vanity Fair, Wired, Architectural Digest, Teen Vogue, and Glamour.

American Circular Textiles CEO and founder Rachel Kibbe commented: “30 years ago, eBay defined online buying and selling, which means it has had circularity built into its business model from day one. As a household name in the circular economy, we could not be more excited to welcome a voice as organic and influential as eBay to our ongoing efforts to advance the circular economy in the United States.”

AMCIRC was established in 2022 as a policy platform for the nation’s circular fashion sector. Its initiatives have included participation in G7 circular design actions, support for launching the bipartisan Recommerce Caucus, multi-state Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) efforts and advising on legislative proposals such as the Americas Act.

If enacted, this legislation would introduce federal incentives for circular fashion in the US.

In October this year, eBay joined the Global Fashion Agenda (GFA) as a strategic partner, marking a new collaboration intended to accelerate the fashion sector’s transition towards a circular economy.
