Denim giant G-Star Raw has named Rob Schilder as sole CEO in a move that puts an end to the two-headed structure it established last year.

The news comes almost twelve months after G-Star appointed Schilder and former chief creative officer Patrick Kraaijeveld as co-CEO’s in move it said would sustain its future growth towards one of innovative, creative and sustainable denim.

Now, chairman of the board, Jos van Tilburg, who held the position of CEO for 27 years, says the co-CEO model was “temporary”.

“The co-CEO model was a temporary model to support the transition and prepare the organisation for a retail-focused future,” he explains. “This has been successful and in one year we are ready to announce the appointment of one CEO, Rob Schilder.”

Meanwhile, Patrick Kraaijeveld is to leave the company. “Patrick has, more than anyone, contributed to the success of G-Star in the past 25 years,” says van Tilburg. “During all these years he has played an important role in the growth of our brand. In his career at G-Star, starting as salesman to co-CEO, Patrick’s with his optimism, energy and expertise has contributed successfully to the company.”
