China is expected to continue leading in cotton production, contributing 24% to the worldwide output.

Additionally, China is set to retain its status as the premier consumer of cotton, with an anticipated consumption of 8.2 million tonnes, which constitutes 32% of global consumption.

Bangladesh is projected to stay at the forefront of cotton importers, accounting for 19% of global imports.

Meanwhile, Brazil is likely to uphold its position as the foremost exporter of cotton, handling 32% of international shipments.

The Secretariat’s current price forecast for the upcoming season ranges between 57 and 94 cents per pound, centring at a midpoint of 73 cents per pound.

These projections are based on current supply and demand estimates and have been formulated by ICAC economist Lorena Ruiz.

The August 2025 Cotton This Month (CTM) report also highlights ongoing efforts by the ICAC to rectify data across all reported regions and countries, with initial updates already provided for India, South Africa, Argentina, and Australia.

According to the National Cotton Council’s (NCC) Annual Planting Intentions survey, global cotton consumption is expected to increase by 1.7% to 117.9 million bales for the 2025/26 marketing year.
