Sri Lanka’s Security Force Headquarters – Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT) has established a new training facility for women and youths who aspire to work in the country’s garment industry. The factory, which has been established in collaboration with the district secretary for Mullaittivu and garment industrialists, is an initiative of Global Design Tex which, in the long-term, aims to establish a 300-employee garment factory in Mullaittivu to benefit unemployed youth in the area. The Russian government plans to place massive orders for the production of technical textiles and non-wovens for use in special clothing, as well as defence sector, during the next several years, according to a statement of an official spokesman of Viktor Yevtukhov, Russia’s Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade. Currently, special clothing remains probably the most promising segment of the Russian clothing industry, in terms of further growth. Indonesian garment maker Pan Brothers is to invest US$30m in two new factories to help boost its annual production.
