  • Japanese investors are looking to build business partnerships in Rwanda’s manufacturing sector, including its textile industry. Francis Gatare, the Rwanda Development Board CEO, said the initiative would complement what the government is doing. Rwanda’s exports to Japan are low in comparison to the country’s imports from Japan. THE NEW TIMES 
  • The Thanh Cong Textile Garment Investment Trading Joint Stock Company is to build a garment and textile factory in the Mekong Delta province of Vinh Long this month. The investment for phase one is US$8m, and the project is expected to bring in a revenue of $10m next year. VIETNAM NEWS
  • German investor Vakas Malik has committed to invest BGN55.1m (US$37m) over three years to build a textile factory in the Bulgarian city of Knezha. The facility will create 4,900 jobs. PRESSA DAILY 
  • The cause of a fire which broke out at a ready-made garment factory in Dhaka, Bangladesh, on Sunday (31 August) is unknown. It started in the storeroom of Cordial Design, located on the third floor of an eight-storey building. There were no casualties, although a number of workers were in the factory when the fire broke out. THE DAILY STAR
  • American Cotton Growers’ denim textile plant is making around 69 job cuts. Bryan Gregory, vice president of ACG textile operations, said the layoffs were due to a decline in market demand and the company’s need for a smaller payroll. LUBBOCK ONLINE
