Fitness apparel brand Gymshark has come in second place on a new listing that ranks the top 100 private UK companies with the fastest-growing profits.

The company, which is based in Solihull near Birmingham, is a manufacturer and online retailer of performance wear and accessories. Founded in 2012, the company has since gone global under the direction CEO Steve Hewitt, former Sport Brands Group chief and commercial director EMEA of Reebok Europe.

Ranked second overall in The Sunday Times BDO Profit Track 100 league table, Gymshark was the top fashion company in the list, beating outdoor and leisure clothing supplier Regatta which was in 62nd place.

Online menswear retailer END. – which is backed by private equity firm Index Ventures and ships up to 15,000 products a day worldwide and stocks more than 400 brands and designers, such as Comme des Garçons and Alexander McQueen – came in 49th place.

And sporting goods retailer SportsShoes.com was ranked 28th.
