India and Jordan are to sign a cooperation agreement that will enhance the trade exchange of items such as textiles between the two countries.
Ayman Safadi, Jordan’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and Expatriates travelled to India on 27 December to hold bilateral discussions with India’s External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj.
They discussed steps to set up a “robust agenda” for deepening and diversifying areas of cooperation in the fields of trade and investment, defence and security and people-to-people contact.
“Our relations have been warm and cordial based on commonality of views on regional and international issues,” Swaraj said.
Cooperation agreements are expected to be signed in the mineral, textile, renewable energy, ICT and infrastructure fields, to enhance trade exchange.
Safadi reportedly commended the Jordanian-Indian relations that date back 70 years, and welcomed a bigger role for New Delhi in the region.
