Indian textile manufacturer and fashion retailer, Raymond Group, has teamed up with conglomerate Reliance Industries to launch an environmentally-friendly range of fabrics called Ecovera.

Ecovera has been produced using Reliance’s R|Elan GreenGold fibre, which is described as the “greenest fibre in the world” made using recycled post-consumer waste PET bottles and using bio-fuels and energy efficient processes.

The range from Raymond will launch in 1500 stores across 700 cities and Raymond adds it will redeem almost 1m PET bottles from landfills for it.

Reliance says its petrochemicals business is committed to adhering to the concept of circular economy, recycling and waste reduction. Its aim is to make Indian textile and fashion industry a leader in practising these concepts. R|Elan products, it adds, will provide consumers next generation fabrics that are on-trend and fulfil their lifestyle needs.
