Israel-based Kornit Digital, which makes industrial digital printing technologies for the garment, apparel and textile industries, has launched a single-step solution for direct-to-fabric printing.

The company says its new Kornit Presto technology eliminates the need for pre- and post-treatment of fabric and allows for high-quality printing on a broad variety of fabric types and applications. It also does not consume water in the printing process, making it an environmentally-friendly option for direct-to-fabric textile printing. It is able to print 450 square metres per hour.

The technology includes the Neopigment Robusto pigment-based ink for “above industry standard” wash and rub results and colour fastness across a wide fabric and application range. The Robusto allows faster physical and chemical bonding characteristics, enabling a significantly shorter curing time – and is Global Organic Textiles Standard (GOTS) positive listed.

The new Presto solution suits the on-demand fashion market, where “we continue to see growth,” according to Omer Kulka, Kornit’s VP of marketing and product strategy.
