L Brands, the owner of lingerie brand La Senza, is weighing up options for the business it has confirmed.

In a statement to just-style, US-based L Brands said it was looking to drive shareholder value and focus on its “larger core business” and as a result is “pursuing all alternatives” for the business.

La Senza currently has 126 company-owned and operated stores in North America and 188 non-company owed international stores.

L Brands acquired the Canadian La Senza brand in 2007. Today it said it estimates La Senza’s 2018 revenues and operating loss will be approximately $250m and $40m, respectively.

Susan Anderson, analyst at B.Riley, says the alternatives L Brands could be exploring include a sale or shut down of the business. Investors, she adds, will view the move “positively” as it creates room for management to realign its focus on the core businesses.

Alongside the announcement, L Brands yesterday (11 October) revealed sales growth of 7% to US$7.5bn for the 35 week period ending 6 October.
