Textile odour control specialist Microban has been awarded the Eco Passport by Oeko-Tex certification for its odour capture platforms, Scentry and Scentry Revive.
To receive this accreditation, both technologies had to complete a three-stage verification analyses based on whether chemical products and each individual ingredient meet specific requirements with regard to sustainability, safety and compliance with statutory regulations.

The combined process ensures there is no harmful effect on the human and environmental health of the textiles treated and confirms both Scentry and Scentry Revive meet environmentally responsible textile production standards.
Scentry is Microban’s first odour capture product for apparel and footwear. It is a non-antimicrobial solution that absorbs body odours caused by organic chemical compounds in clothing and footwear made from polyester, spandex, nylon and synthetic blends.
Applied to the fabric during the manufacturing process, it forms a protective barrier on the fabric that traps body odours and regenerates itself by releasing the trapped odours during home launderings. Scentry has been proven to capture more than 90% of odours, even after more than 50 typical home launderings, extending the life of the product.
Scentry Revive’s key sustainability benefits include water and energy savings through the reduced need for laundering. Most significantly, because it prevents the odour build-up that causes consumers to discard apparel, footwear and gear prematurely, Scentry Revive effectively extends the usable life of any product treated with it, keeping items out of landfills.

By GlobalDataCompared to the average untreated apparel, the same shirt treated with Scentry Revive would only need to be washed ten times, compared to the average 50 washings, saving over 35 gallons of water per year, according to Microban.
Eco Passport by Oeko-Tex, meanwhile, is a two-step verification procedure that enables manufacturers of textile processing chemicals and chemical compounds such as dyes, performance additives, finishing agents, lubricants and detergents to confirm their products meet the criteria for environmentally responsible textile production.
It analyses textile chemicals, colourants, and auxiliaries to confirm the compounds and individual ingredients meet specific criteria for sustainability, safety, and regulatory compliance.
Its Eco Passport (Class I) is the toughest, most stringent approval to receive.
