Developed with Ankara-based Prospera Impact and informed by Turkish sector partners, the curriculum adapts proven good farming practices to Türkiye’s soils, climate and growing conditions.
It also introduces the programme’s first module on regenerative agriculture, offering clear direction on soil health, biodiversity and long-term resilience.
Beyond field-level agronomy, the OCTC includes new modules on farm management and digital literacy. These aim to improve record-keeping, support more effective planning of inputs and crop rotations, and help farmers make better use of digital tools, from basic smartphone apps to farm data platforms, to track performance and guide decision-making.
“Türkiye’s cotton farmers are ready to take the next step, and the OCTC gives them the practical guidance to do so,” said Ömür Suner, country manager for OCA in Türkiye. “By tailoring the curriculum to our national agronomic conditions and collaborating closely with local partners, we are ensuring that every field officer and farmer receives relevant, high-quality support. This resource is a cornerstone for strengthening Türkiye’s leadership in organic cotton production.”

By GlobalDataThe curriculum was tested with field teams during workshops held across Türkiye’s cotton regions this season. It builds on OCA’s training model first introduced in India in 2022 and Pakistan in 2023, which has delivered 25 agronomic training sessions and strengthened the capacity of nearly 200 field staff.
The launch follows OCA’s formal expansion into Türkiye in 2024 and forms part of its long-term goal to build a sustainable and transparent national organic cotton sector that supports farmer livelihoods and protects local ecosystems.
OCA explained that the curriculum will be updated regularly based on field feedback and expert input and invites organisations across the cotton and sustainable agriculture sectors to integrate the OCTC into their own training programmes.
