Global fitness brand Reebok has launched its first running shoe built with its latest footwear upper technology, which the company claims offers a single surface construction that is as strong as it is light.
The Fast Flexweave utilises the brand’s new Flexweave material, the latest innovation from the Reebok Innovation Collective: a division championing the open-sourced pursuit of progression via innovation and partnerships that aims to push the boundaries of invention.
Featuring an open figure-eight construction that interlocks unlimited strands of fibres, Flexweave allows for ‘zones’ throughout the shoe that deliver a unique combination of front-of-the-foot flexibility, mid-foot stabilisation, and breathability. As a result, Reebok says the Fast Flexweave is ideal for a wide variety of quick-burst workouts and speed drills.
“Innovation should never come at the sacrifice of performance or aesthetic, and with the Fast Flexweave, we’re setting a new standard,” says Scott Daley, general manager at Reebok. “Flexweave is going to be a major part of the Reebok DNA moving forward, and represents a huge step forward in footwear technology.”
Reebok says it Flexweave material will appear in performance and Reebok Classics products throughout 2018 and beyond, including the Reebok CrossFit Nano 8.
The Reebok Fast Flexweave is available online now in introductory colourways and priced at US$100.
