The collaboration will see Circle-8 support Reju’s upcoming European Regeneration Hubs by providing raw material from post-consumer textile waste processed at its first digitised Automated Textile Sorting and Preprocessing (ATSP) facility.

Reju will use this feedstock to manufacture its regenerated Reju Polyester, which features a carbon footprint reduction of 50% compared to traditional virgin polyester and offers the potential for infinite regeneration.

Reju CEO Patrik Frisk said: “Working with Circle-8’s growing ecosystem and ATSP enables us to elevate the efficiency of the textile recycling process, making it easier and more precise, resulting in a premium product meeting the high Reju standard for polyester.

“As more consumers and clothing producers become aware of the importance of keeping textiles out of landfills, it is critical to have automated, streamlined processes and facilities in the places where the textile waste is.”

With this partnership, Reju and Circle-8 intend to enhance the UK’s infrastructure for material processing and foster collaborations that ensure a transparent and effective fibre-to-fibre ecosystem.

The agreement positions UK brands and retailers for a shift towards a circular textile industry by offering pre-sorted and pre-processed feedstock at scale for Reju’s unique regeneration technology.

This approach addresses the annual challenge posed by approximately 700,000 tonnes (t) of non-reusable textile waste in the UK.

Circle-8 co-founder and CEO Cyndi Rhoades said: “Reju and Circle-8 share an unwavering commitment to unlocking true indefinite textile-to-textile recycling here in the UK and around the globe. This partnership highlights the importance of cooperation and innovation in turning textile waste into resource. With global regulatory bodies enacting coordinated efforts addressing the issue, Reju and Circle-8 are dedicated to scalable solutions meeting regulatory demands and achieving a more sustainable future.”

In April, Reju partnered with Italian producer responsibility organisation Rematrix to ensure a consistent supply of end-of-life textiles in compliance with industry standards.
