The collaboration is also intended to expedite the outdoor industry’s transition towards a “truly circular textiles future,” Samsara Eco said.

The Nylon Materials Collective will connect outdoor companies with supply chain actors and materials experts to address persistent obstacles that could hinder the adoption of recycled materials. Overcoming these obstacles is essential to achieving a more sustainable and circular future.

Through a model based on collective demand, member brands will be able to procure recycled materials by pooling their orders, a move that is expected to reduce logistical hurdles and accelerate the integration of recycled content in product development.

Samsara Eco chief commercial officer Sarah Cook said: “Outdoor brands inherently have a respect for the planet. They understand the importance of establishing a circular, low-carbon future so we can all continue enjoying the beauty of the outdoors. We want to do everything we can to help more brands access our materials so we can all enjoy the benefit from going circular.

“The Nylon Materials Collective will make it easier for outdoor brands of any size, who might have smaller materials requirements or who typically buy at a fabric level to access and seamlessly integrate virgin-identical recycled materials into their future product lines.”

Nylon remains a common material for many outdoor brands due to its durability and performance under demanding conditions.

Samsara Eco will supply recycled nylon through its enzymatic technology platform known as EosEco, which produces “virgin-identical recycled materials” including nylon 6,6.

The EOG, which represents approximately 150 brands, retailers, associations, and other organisations, will serve as the platform for industry collaboration and pooled demand.

Through this partnership, brands are expected to access Samsara Eco’s recycled nylon more efficiently.

Membership in the Nylon Materials Collective is open to all EOG-affiliated companies. The group is set for formal launch ahead of EOG’s participation at the European sporting goods and apparel trade show, ISPO Munich 2025.

During this show, Samsara Eco will present samples of its recycled nylon material.

EOG sustainability and CSR head Dr Katy Stevens added: “The Nylon Materials Collective represents an opportunity for our members to work together with innovators like Samsara Eco to unlock access to recycled nylon and accelerate the industry’s transition to circular materials. We’re making it easier for brands of all sizes to integrate high-performance, recycled materials into their collections and take meaningful steps toward a more sustainable outdoor industry.”

In September this year, Samsara Eco inaugurated its first manufacturing plant in Jerrabomberra, New South Wales, marking an advancement in addressing the issue of plastic waste.
