SLCP explains that previously fashion suppliers (facilities) had the freedom to choose from all available Verifier Bodies (VB) in their country or region.
Based on feedback from brands, signatories, and other stakeholders, SLCP is implementing a new approach to VB selection that empowers suppliers to uphold data quality.
Facilities no longer need to gather information on VB performance themselves, as was done under the previous model. Now, all the necessary information is available directly in the selection list, providing easy data access and greater transparency.
Key features of SLCP’s new Verifier Body selection model
- A data-driven approach: Facilities will now select from a list of pre-approved VBs that have been filtered and ranked by an algorithm according to their quality performance scores. This list is generated through a technology-driven process ensuring that only VBs meeting certain performance criteria are considered
- Transparency in quality scores: The pre-approved list will display the quality scores of each VB, providing facilities with clear insights into their performance. These scores play a crucial role in determining whether a VB will be featured on the selection list, with high-performing VBs consistently visible and medium or low-performing ones displayed less frequently
- Mandatory rotation of VBs: To maintain objectivity and fresh perspectives, the new model requires facilities to rotate their chosen VBs and prohibits them from selecting the same VB for consecutive years. This rotation is mandatory unless there are no viable alternatives available, which helps mitigate potential conflicts of interest.
How the VB quality scoring model functions
The visibility of a VB on a facility’s selection list is decided by its performance.
The VB Quality Score, which ranges from 0 to 5 — with 5 being the highest — is determined based on several elements:
- The score of the VB management system
- The weighted average of verifier quality scores
- The Issue-to-Verification Ratio, indicating the frequency at which quality issues are reported relative to verifications performed.
The scoring model incorporates penalties for specific errors, with increased penalties for repeated mistakes. This structure ensures that continuous errors will significantly impact a VB’s overall score.

The updated system provides all necessary information within the selection list itself.
SLCP plans to start a pilot of this new model in one country before its complete implementation in Q1 2026.
The model has already been introduced to VBs at the June 2025 General Calibration event and has secured approval from the Data Quality and Integrity Technical Advisory Committee.
