Fashion retail giant Inditex posted a robust increase in first-half net profit, buoyed by its continued international expansion and a revenue increase of 14%.
Like-for-like sales were up 5% as the owner of the Zara chain opened another 173 stores in 37 countries during the six months to 31 July, bringing its total roster to 4,780 outlets in 77 countries.
The expansion is gradually changing the geographical spread of Inditex’s sales, with Asia and the rest of the world now accounting for 15% of revenues, up from 12% in the same period last year.
