Synthetic fibre specialist Stein Fibers Ltd has acquired North Carolina-based Consolidated Fibres.
Since 1960, Consolidated Fibers has been a leader in the man-made fiber business specialising in various products for the non-woven industry, as well as speciality fibres for a variety of industries including apparel and clothing, aerospace and automotive.
In addition to polyester and viscose fibers, Consolidated Fibers bring a complement of speciality and niche products to Stein’s portfolio.
Now in its fifth decade, Stein says it is among the largest suppliers and producers of polyester staple fibers and nonwoven fibers in North America, with annual shipments exceeding GBP500m (US$686m).
Stein Fibers will retain Bob Kunik, the owner and president of Consolidated Fibers, as well as several other of the company’s key sales and operational associates.
No financial details of the deal were disclosed.
