The second edition of the Sustainable Textile School has been confirmed to take place this year, with the main theme of engineering a circular recycling chain in the textile and fashion industry.
Taking place from 10-12 September in Chemnitz, Germany, the objective of the event is to form a platform for innovation and further education with a focus on sustainability in the textile supply chain. Organisers say each point of the chain is viewed individually and overlapping.
The focus for 2018 is “realcycling” and will contain five strands: resources, fabric production, textile chemistry, supply chain, and politics.
Topics covered will include fibre production and recycling, different manufacturing methods, transparency, and licensing and labels.
“Currently we have our own Big Bang Theory: China refusing to take in the world’s plastic trash anymore, will be remembered as a catalyst moment in the global (recycling) economy. For the textile industries we see great opportunities to thrive this momentum to continue developing new strategies, designs and first and foremost well-engineered technology to create true circular value chains,” the organisers say.
“It is all about real-cycling and intelligent sourcing combined with super-efficent operations, up- and downstream.”
