Teijin Frontier, the fibre product converting business of Japanese conglomerate Teijin Group, has added a “natural-like” fabric to its DeltaPeak range of high-function fabrics that is said to be ideal for sportswear, fashionwear, and uniforms.

The new fabric offers what the company says is a “unique combination” of form-fitting and natural-like texture. The yarn randomly combines two types of crimped fibres to give a soft, high-density structure.

It incorporates the micro-crimping technology of DeltaPeak and the coil-like crimping of Teijin’s Solotex yarn to achieve comfortable form-fitting, moisture-absorbent, quick-drying, lightweight and bulkiness properties, in addition to a natural-like texture thanks to special dyeing technology.

Teijin Frontier says it will commercially launch the product in the 2020 spring/summer season, targeting annual sales of 1m metres by the fiscal year ending in March 2022.

The innovation, the company says, is in response to demand for high-function products with a more natural look, particularly in the area of athleisure fashion.

Features of the new fabric include a natural appearance and texture, stretch and elastic-recovery, twice the moisture-absorbent and quick-drying properties of regular polyester, and it is also lightweight and bulky.
