Supermarket retailer Tesco Plc has promoted Jan Marchant to CEO of its F&F clothing division.

During her tenure at Tesco, Marchant has served as buying director of F&F, design director and, most recently, as creative and digital director of its apparel arm.

She succeeds Richard Price as CEO of F&F who has recently taken up the role of managing director of clothing and home at UK retailer Marks & Spencer.

A Tesco spokesperson said: “Jan joined Tesco in 2002 and has made a significant contribution to the F&F team. Jan’s detailed knowledge of the brand and product strategy puts F&F in a strong position to continue delivering fantastic products for customers.”

In its most recently quarterly results, Tesco posted an 8.7% rise in first quarter like-for-like sales at its UK stores but said clothing sales fell by one-fifth.

The retailer has been one of the biggest beneficiaries of the demand for food and other essential items before and during lockdown. As a result, total sales increased 9.4% to GBP12.2bn (US$15bn) for the three months to 30 May.
