UK: Alexon Axes Welsh Clothing Factory, 190 Jobs
Leading UK fashion group Alexon on Monday announced the closure of its apparel factory in Pontypridd with the loss of 190 jobs. The Luton-based firm said its decision followed a "detailed review of costs" which concluded manufacturing at the plant was "uneconomic". However, it will continue to use its warehouse, testing laboratory, garment storage and clearance shop which employ around 40 people.
