US textile maker Mount Vernon Mills has more than doubled its capacity to produce flame resistant (FR) fabrics at its manufacturing facilities in Trion, Georgia, to meet rising demand.
The company has invested more than US$15m in capital equipment to support its flame resistant programmes, and says the expanded capacity means it can provide 6-8 week delivery of its FR fabrics while also maintaining in-stock inventory on core products and colours that will be available for immediate shipment.
“The increase in capacity is a demonstration of our commitment to producing FR fabrics in the US in our vertically integrated manufacturing facility, where we have in-house control of 25 major processes, including spinning, weaving, dyeing and FR finishing,” said Mike Woods, vice president of flame resistant fabric sales.
“We now have three ranges producing FR fabrics, and we are the only US producer to be using the latest technology in softening equipment from Biancalani.”
Flame resistant fabrics from Mount Vernon Mills comply with environmental standards including Oeko-Tex, REACH and Worldwide Responsible Apparel Production (WRAP) Principles.
