Athletic-led retailer The Finish Line has appointed chief merchandising officer Samuel Sato as the company’s new president.

Sato, who joined the US company in 2007, continues to oversee all merchandising and marketing initiatives, and will now also be responsible for the company’s e-commerce business.

Don Courtney, who has led The Finish Line’s online division since August 2009, will continue as president, e-commerce division, reporting to Sato.

Company CEO and newly appointed chairman Glenn Lyon said: “Sam has played an integral role in the strategy and execution of our premium brand.

“We are pleased to have Sam extend his success in merchandising and marketing to our e-commerce business where he and Don will continue to drive its growth.”

Meanwhile, Steven Schreibman has been appointed vice president, chief marketing officer, and will lead all the company’s branding and marketing initiatives.
