US-based Textile Exchange, the body that aims to drive sustainability across the global textile industry, has opened an office in Bristol in the UK to enable it to work more closely with European companies.
The new office will be managed by existing staff and supported by a board chaired by Simon Cooper, founder of CSR Consultancy Ltd. Directors include Abigail Petit, founder of Vericott and the Gossypium brand, and Toby Shillito, a director at Business in the Community.
The company has also announced that David Bennell is stepping down as the executive director of Textile Exchange, effective 7 May. He will remain as senior advisor until 7 July.
LaRhea Pepper, founder and former executive director of Organic Exchange, and more recently senior director of Textile Exchange, will become the organisation’s managing director.
“We look forward to continuing the growth and expansion of the Textile Exchange programs under the direction of LaRhea Pepper and the strong senior leadership team,” said Eraina Duffy, chair of the Textile Exchange board and senior materials researcher at Nike.
