New CEO Catherine David joined WRAP in October 2021 and is currently serving as the director for Behaviour Change & Business Programmes.

In her new role, David will be responsible for implementing WRAP’s comprehensive 2030 Strategy, which focuses on four main initiatives: ensuring sustainable food systems, reducing problematic plastic usage, revolutionising the textile industry, and promoting a more robust circular economy.

Additionally, she will be tasked with enhancing WRAP’s international presence, building on the organisation’s expansion efforts that have recently included establishing its inaugural EU office and other offices in the US and Australia to oversee projects throughout the Americas and Asia-Pacific regions.

“I am absolutely delighted to be taking on the role of CEO of WRAP. At WRAP, we are on a mission to embed circular living in every board room and every home, and it is a huge privilege to take on the job of leading the wonderful team as CEO. I look forward to working with WRAP’s partners and stakeholders across the world to take action, at a crucial time for our planet and for all of us who call it home,” David stated.

In her current position, she oversees WRAP’s collaborative efforts with businesses through various voluntary agreements, including The Textiles Pact, The UK Plastics Pact and others. She also directs citizen behaviour change initiatives such as Recycle Now and Love Food Hate Waste.

She focuses on sustainability and ethical trade, particularly in the development of sustainable value chains and the improvement of food and materials systems.

Prior to joining WRAP, David held senior roles at The Fairtrade Foundation and Co-op.

She will succeed Harriet Lamb, who has been appointed as CEO for the Green Party of England and Wales.

WRAP Trustees chair Sebastian Munden said: “Catherine has the skills, determination, and expertise to lead WRAP at this important time, boosted by her experience of the last three and a half years of change. She will continue to drive our mission, which she helped co-create, to embed Circular Living in every boardroom and every home. Catherine has demonstrated her commitment to delivering against an ambitious strategy focused on system change in food and drink, materials like textiles and packaging, and the circular economy while expanding our global reach and impact.”

In October last year, WRAP joined forces with UK fashion retailer Primark in a new three-year partnership that aims to reduce textile waste and extend the lifespan of clothing.
