Japanese fastener business YKK has launched a new zipper for use in clothing that has been designed to be easier to open and close.
The new Click-Trak, which has been under development since 2015, works by replacing the insert pin with a snap button that is pressed together when closing the zipper. The open parts automatically rotate and engage when overlapped and can be easily closed by pressing together like a button.
It has been created with the aim of enabling the elderly, people with disabilities, and others who have difficulty using zippers to better enjoy fashion. Additional applications include sports and outdoor apparel, and childrenswear, which can take advantage of Click-Trak’s easy-to-use features.
Last week, YKK announced several of its new products include a number of sustainable trims that are aimed at reducing carbon emissions, toxic chemicals and water use.
YKK produces a range of fastening solutions, including zippers, hook-and-loop fasteners, fabric tapes and plastic products, snaps and buttons for fashion and leather goods applications.
