Maximilian Bittner, who held the Vestiare Collective CEO role for seven years, is departing from the company, stating that he "had different views on the strategic path forward".

Bernard Osta joined Vestiaire Collective as the chief strategy officer in May 2021, and transitioned to chief financial officer in September 2023.

Previously, Osta worked as an investment banker with Lazard from 2006 to 2011 and Goldman Sachs from 2011 to 2021, operating out of New York and Paris.

He also maintains a position as an independent member of the supervisory board at Vivendi, a media and entertainment conglomerate.

Vestiaire Collective's board of directors said: “We want to thank Maximilian Bittner for his dedication and the significant role he has played in the development of the company since he joined in late 2018.

“Looking forward, we are very happy to open a new chapter under the leadership of Bernard. We have worked very closely with him since he joined Vestiaire Collective. His intimate knowledge of the company, international experience and great leadership will be invaluable assets for Vestiaire Collective in its next phase of growth.”

As CEO, Osta is set to steer Vestiaire Collective towards its commitment to revolutionising the fashion industry with sustainability at its core.

The company's strategic priorities under his leadership include driving innovation at the intersection of luxury, technology, and sustainability and rolling out an AI-enabled product roadmap to enhance customer experience.

Vestiaire Collective will also focus on expanding brand awareness and reach through innovative marketing in key regions such as Europe, the US, and Asia-Pacific (APAC).

It will invest in leading authentication capabilities to cement its position as a trusted marketplace for pre-loved fashion.

Osta said: “Vestiaire Collective has secured a unique position as the ultimate trusted marketplace in the highly attractive pre-loved luxury fashion industry. Together, we will continue to transform fashion by giving a second life to the most desirable pieces, at the service of a more sustainable model.”

Vestiaire Collective was launched by two female entrepreneurs in Paris in 2009. The company processed more than 2.3m orders in 2023, according to its website.
