US-based fashion technology firm Tukatech has unveiled its new virtual fitting room technology designed for online fashion retailers to enhance shopping experience.

The new patented pattern-based fitting application employs actual garment patterns and 3D modelling technology to “simulate true garment fit” against the traditional size charts or visual filters.

This allows retailers to offer virtual try-on feature directly into their existing online storefronts.

Tukatech’s pattern-based virtual fitting room features online catalogue from where customers can pick clothing and “try it on” through personalised 3D avatars.

The technology superimposes the chosen clothing on the avatar, providing a real-time view of the fit, drape, and appearance.

With this tool, consumers can make informed purchasing decisions with aims to decrease return rates related to fit issues.

The new app is said to be “scalable for brands of all sizes and product categories” and is compatible with e-commerce platforms such as Shopify, Magento, and WordPress.

Tukatech president & inventor Iva Sareen said: “This patented innovation bridges the gap between physical and digital retail experiences. By focusing on actual patterns rather than 2D visuals, we ensure true-to-life fitting accuracy, which builds trust and loyalty in a digital-first world.”

The company offers computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) systems for the design and development of apparel and associated products.

In October 2023, Tukatech expanded its capabilities through a partnership with EcoShot by Metail, allowing them to display 3D virtual garments on highly realistic digital models using their TUKA3D software.

Additionally, Tukatech collaborated with India's UV Stacks in November 2024 to launch a Made-to-Order division within the global marketplace Gaiabay.

This collaboration combines Tukatech’s design software with UV Stacks’ platform to enable US-based brands and designers to offer customised products made on demand in India. These products can be shipped worldwide duty-free via UV Stacks’ Vayulogi logistics segment.
