The WELL Survey (Worker Wellbeing, Engagement and Livelihoods), claimed to be the fashion industry’s first modular survey, seeks to address survey fatigue by providing a streamlined approach to gathering credible and comparable data on worker conditions.
Developed through multi-stakeholder collaboration, the WELL Survey has received contributions from Labor Solutions, Adidas, H&M, Decathlon, Carters and Lake Advisory, among others.
Labor Solutions CEO Elena Fanjul-Debnam said: “The WELL Survey represents a new industry standard: streamlined, credible, and adaptable to both global and local needs. By listening to workers, we strengthen trust and create safer, fairer workplaces. This is more than a survey — it’s a collective commitment to make worker voices central to how we measure and improve supply chains.”
The WELL Survey arrives at a time when there is growing pressure from governments, investors, and consumers for greater visibility into supply chain practices and the safeguarding of worker rights.
It is expected to offer organisations evidence, benchmarks and other tools to respond effectively to these demands.
WELL Survey's key features:
- Universal standards with local relevance: The survey establishes core indicators concerning workplace safety, remuneration, employee welfare, and equal opportunities
- Core questionnaire: The survey consists of eight indicators and 22 questions. These have been validated with input from multiple stakeholders and are in line with the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGP)
- Additional in-depth modules: Organisations have the option to incorporate extra modules that delve into specific areas such as complaint resolution procedures, hiring practices and working hours, among others
- Reliable and comparable information: The survey employs standardised metrics that enable comparisons across different sectors and regions
- Recognition for participation: Workplaces that partake in the survey will receive the annual WELL Seal as an acknowledgment of their dedication to enhancing worker wellbeing
- Detailed reporting framework: Accompanying the WELL Survey are comprehensive reporting guidelines which help organisations prepare extensive reports. These include rankings based on indicators, eNPS scores, demographic analyses, and tracking of improvements over time. The goal is to generate insights that lead to substantial enhancements in workplace conditions
- Multilingual deployment with standardised translations: The survey can be implemented worldwide with professional translations to maintain consistency across various languages.
The WELL Survey is now accessible to organisations across different sectors and regions.
