British retail group Arcadia has become the latest retailer to announce a leadership shake-up at its stores, confirming to just-style it is working to “restructure” its retail management across Topshop and Topman.
An Arcadia spokesperson told just-style that as part of an ongoing business review and “as a response to the ever-evolving fashion retail landscape”, areas in the firm’s store management structures have been identified where resource can be “used more effectively in servicing the needs of our customers”.
“As a result we are working to restructure our retail management across Topshop and Topman,” she added.
As part of the shake-up, Arcadia said it remains committed to all of its team members and its first priority is to re-deploy managers into newly-created roles within the proposed structure.
“We fully appreciate that this will be a difficult time for those affected and we will ensure our teams are supported through the process of change,” it added in a statement.
While the group spokesperson was not able to share an exact number of at-risk roles at this stage, she said Arcadia currently operates 254 stores in the UK and Eire.

By GlobalDataThe news follows a similar reshuffle at UK supermarket retailer Tesco, which outlined plans last week to simplify its operational structures in a move that will affect some 1,700 employees in a bid to improve efficiency and ensure it remains competitive in the future.
Meanwhile, Arcadia’s shake-up comes after it recently told its clothing suppliers it is imposing a discount on all current and existing orders from next month, blaming changes in the retail market.
The retail group wrote to suppliers informing them they should expect a 2% discount from 1 February – a move expected to save Arcadia millions of pounds.
