The tenth edition of the Bangladesh Denim Expo will take place in the country this week with a theme of circularity in denim production.
Bangladesh is the world’s second largest producer of denim, and production continues to grow year on year. However, the industry faces a number of challenges moving forwards, not least of which is continued pressure by brands and retailers to operate more sustainably and reduce its environmental footprint.
Taking place from 2-3 May at the International Convention City Bashundara, the event will host 63 exhibitors and feature a range of seminars and workshops.
“Brands are demanding more sustainable denim, and that means cleaner, less resource-intensive production methods,” says Bangladesh Denim Expo organiser, and managing director of Bangladesh-based jeans manufacturer Denim Expert Limited, Mostafiz Uddin. “While this costs money for denim mills, the return on this investment is more business from brands and the future-proofing of their operations.
“This show will provide a perfect meeting place for stakeholders in the rapidly changing global denim industry, offering senior representatives the chance to work together to plot a more efficient and sustainable path for the sector moving forwards.”
This year, Bangladesh Denim Expo will take place in tandem with the second Bangladesh Fashionology Summit.
