Outdoor apparel, footwear and accessories maker Columbia Sportswear Company has made a number of management appointments – including a new vice president of footwear manufacturing.

The internal promotion goes to David Soriano, who has served as the company’s general manager of Asia footwear in Zhuhai, China since early 2016. He will report to Tom Cusick, executive vice president and chief operating officer.

“To assume his new role, David has relocated to our Portland, Oregon headquarters to lead our global footwear manufacturing team and maintain strong partnerships with both the Columbia and Sorel brand functional teams,” said Cusick.

Prior to joining Columbia Sportswear, Soriano held management roles overseeing footwear manufacturing operations in Asia for Puma, LaCrosse Footwear and Nike.

In other appointments outlined by the company yesterday (4 December), Melissa Dugan has been named chief accounting officer; and Jennifer Warner joins as vice president of legal.

In its most recent third-quarter, Columbia Sportswear saw its net income increase 5% to $87.7m from $83.6m last year. Global apparel, accessories and equipment net sales were up 1% to $580m, but global footwear net sales slipped 2% $167.4m.
