Sales and Related Occupations drive ecommerce-related hiring activity
Sales and Related Occupations, with a share of 22%, emerged as the top ecommerce-related job roles within the apparel industry in Q2 2023, with new job postings drop by 2% quarter-on-quarter. Management Occupations came in second with a share of 14% in Q2 2023, with new job postings dropping by 34% over the previous quarter.
The other prominent ecommerce roles include Computer and Mathematical Occupations with a 5% share in Q2 2023, Transportation and Material Moving Occupations with a 4% share of new job postings.
Top five companies in apparel industry accounted for 64% of hiring activity
The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q2 2023 were Abercrombie & Fitch, Skechers USA, Amazon, Ascena Retail Group, and Walmart. Together they accounted for a combined share of 64% of all ecommerce-related new jobs in the apparel industry.
Abercrombie & Fitch posted 5,920 ecommerce-related new jobs in Q2 2023, Skechers USA 2,558 jobs, Amazon 2,446 jobs, Ascena Retail Group 1,502 jobs, and Walmart 822 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.
Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 70.24% share of total new job postings, Q2 2023
The largest share of ecommerce-related new job postings in the apparel industry in Q2 2023 was in the US with 70.24% followed by the UK (5.80%) and France (4.01%). The share represented by the US was 0 percentage points higher than the 69.83% share it accounted for in Q1 2023.
