Sales and Related Occupations drive ecommerce-related hiring activity

Sales and Related Occupations, with a share of 29%, emerged as the top ecommerce-related job roles within the apparel industry in Q3 2023, with new job postings drop by 27% quarter-on-quarter. Personal Care and Service Occupations came in second with a share of 13% in Q3 2023, with new job postings dropping by 29% over the previous quarter.

The other prominent ecommerce roles include Management Occupations with a 3% share in Q3 2023, Computer and Mathematical Occupations with a 2% share of new job postings.

Top five companies in apparel industry accounted for 95% of hiring activity

The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q3 2023 were Skechers USA, VF, Ralph Lauren, Hugo Boss, and Fossil Group. Together they accounted for a combined share of 95% of all ecommerce-related new jobs in the apparel industry.

Skechers USA posted 1,682 ecommerce-related new jobs in Q3 2023, VF 70 jobs, Ralph Lauren 43 jobs, Hugo Boss 28 jobs, and Fossil Group 27 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.

Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 92.17% share of total new job postings, Q3 2023

The largest share of ecommerce-related new job postings in the apparel industry in Q3 2023 was in the US with 92.17% followed by Germany (1.59%) and Canada (1.48%). The share represented by the US was two percentage points higher than the 90.50% share it accounted for in Q2 2023.
