Notably, Computer and Mathematical Occupations jobs accounted for a 19% share of the global apparel industry’s future of work-related total new job postings in Q4 2023, down 8% over the prior quarter.
Computer and Mathematical Occupations drive future of work-related hiring activity
Computer and Mathematical Occupations, with a share of 19%, emerged as the top future of work-related job roles within the apparel industry in Q4 2023, with new job postings drop by 8% quarter-on-quarter. Installation, Maintenance, and Repair Occupations came in second with a share of 15% in Q4 2023, with new job postings rising by 44% over the previous quarter.
The other prominent future of work roles include Management Occupations with a 14% share in Q4 2023, Business and Financial Operations Occupations with a 7% share of new job postings.
Top five companies in apparel industry accounted for 88% of hiring activity
The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q4 2023 were VF, Peloton Interactive, UniFirst, Ralph Lauren, and Hugo Boss. Together they accounted for a combined share of 88% of all future of work-related new jobs in the apparel industry.
VF posted 51 future of work-related new jobs in Q4 2023, Peloton Interactive 40 jobs, UniFirst 29 jobs, Ralph Lauren 27 jobs, and Hugo Boss 7 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.
Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 77.14% share of total new job postings, Q4 2023
The largest share of future of work-related new job postings in the apparel industry in Q4 2023 was in the US with 77.14% followed by India (7.43%) and Switzerland (2.86%). The share represented by the US was five percentage points higher than the 72.25% share it accounted for in Q3 2023.
