Notably, Sales and Related Occupations jobs accounted for a 25% share of the global apparel industry’s artificial intelligence-related total new job postings in Q4 2023, down 13% over the prior quarter.

Sales and Related Occupations drive artificial intelligence-related hiring activity

Sales and Related Occupations, with a share of 25%, emerged as the top artificial intelligence-related job roles within the apparel industry in Q4 2023, with new job postings drop by 13% quarter-on-quarter. Computer and Mathematical Occupations came in second with a share of 18% in Q4 2023, with new job postings dropping by 38% over the previous quarter.

The other prominent artificial intelligence roles include Management Occupations with a 13% share in Q4 2023, Business and Financial Operations Occupations with a 11% share of new job postings.

Top five companies in apparel industry accounted for 84% of hiring activity

The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q4 2023 were VF, Ralph Lauren, Levi Strauss & Co, Peloton Interactive, and Hugo Boss. Together they accounted for a combined share of 84% of all artificial intelligence-related new jobs in the apparel industry.

VF posted 18 artificial intelligence-related new jobs in Q4 2023, Ralph Lauren 12 jobs, Levi Strauss & Co 7 jobs, Peloton Interactive 6 jobs, and Hugo Boss 4 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.

Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 50.00% share of total new job postings, Q4 2023

The largest share of artificial intelligence-related new job postings in the apparel industry in Q4 2023 was in the US with 50.00% followed by Italy (30.36%) and Germany (7.14%). The share represented by the US was nine percentage points lower than the 58.90% share it accounted for in Q3 2023.
