Notably, Sales and Related Occupations jobs accounted for a 26% share of the global apparel industry’s social responsibility-related total new job postings in Q4 2023, down 36% over the prior quarter.

Sales and Related Occupations drive social responsibility-related hiring activity

Sales and Related Occupations, with a share of 26%, emerged as the top social responsibility-related job roles within the apparel industry in Q4 2023, with new job postings drop by 36% quarter-on-quarter. Management Occupations came in second with a share of 15% in Q4 2023, with new job postings rising by 3% over the previous quarter.

The other prominent social responsibility roles include Personal Care and Service Occupations with a 6% share in Q4 2023, Transportation and Material Moving Occupations with a 6% share of new job postings.

Top five companies in apparel industry accounted for 96% of hiring activity

The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q4 2023 were Hugo Boss, Levi Strauss & Co, VF, UniFirst, and Ralph Lauren. Together they accounted for a combined share of 96% of all social responsibility-related new jobs in the apparel industry.

Hugo Boss posted 133 social responsibility-related new jobs in Q4 2023, Levi Strauss & Co 121 jobs, VF 104 jobs, UniFirst 95 jobs, and Ralph Lauren 19 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.

Hiring activity was driven by the US with an 83.00% share of total new job postings, Q4 2023

The largest share of social responsibility-related new job postings in the apparel industry in Q4 2023 was in the US with 83.00% followed by Canada (6.48%) and the UK (3.64%). The share represented by the US was one percentage point lower than the 84.05% share it accounted for in Q3 2023.
